We are ignoring the cheapest and cleanest power source on the planet – our Sun. Natural energy is provided to the Earth by the Sun every day. The energy is easily harnessed by us and it can be used to reduce foreign dependence on oil as well as help the environment. Solar power is untapped energy and that should change.
The Sun can provide us with the means to eliminate our energy and resource issues for good. Scientists are always working on locating a source of renewable energy for the earth to reduce pollution and dependence on foreign oil, but the Sun is simply over looked as an option. We cannot just continue to pass up the opportunity for clean energy that the Sun is providing. The reasons to use solar energy are numerous.
Fact 1: Solar energy is one of the cleanest energy sources.
It is true that using solar energy would reduce the amount of carbon dioxide being released into the air every day by power plants as well as homes and businesses. This would have the potential to slow down global warming and might even reverse it to an extent. At least the air we are breathing would be cleaner and that would make us healthier.
Reason 2: Solar Energy is inexpensive energy.
Solar energy can provide most of the electricity needed for most homes, offices, and businesses. The energy is mostly free as well. The biggest expense in concerting to solar energy is in installing the equipment. Solar energy is free after that expense.
Fact 3: Solar energy is a renewable energy.
Our Sun sends rays here to warm us and keep us alive; if we harness these rays for power they will not run out like other natural resources. The energy sent here by the Sun is completely safe for us to use as much as we need to. This gives us a 100% renewable energy source. The Sun’s rays just renew automatically!
Many people worry that solar energy is unreliable because there are cloudy days – especially during certain seasons. The Sun’s rays are actually still getting through the clouds on cloudy days; it will just not be possible to obtain as much energy on these days. It is also possible to contain and store energy from very sunny days to use on cloudy days. Of course, it would be a good idea to have a back-up power source available in case the stored energy actually did run out, but the back-up source would rarely be necessary.
Solar power is untapped energy and tapping into it could greatly benefit the Earth and its inhabitants. There are too many compelling reasons to use the Sun’s energy. It gives it to us for free so that we will be able to survive. It might be time to make a switch.
